Health promotion, prevention, and the provision of adequate quality treatment are key strategies to address the burden of cancer. Thousands of terminal patients can be relieved from their pain and suffering by using low cost approaches and mainly community based strategies. To prevent cancer and other killer diseases, Caritas India has facilitating various initiatives through Ashakiranam project all over India.  Mananthavady diocese and Wayanad social service society is also associated with Caritas India in this unique project.  Wayanad social service society has successfully implemented many cancer/killer disease prevention programs. Among them WSSS organic farming program is very much fulfilling the objectives of Ashakiranam Project.   Through co-ordinating fifteen thousand farmers in organic farming practices, WSSS is creating a healthy ecosystem for the human beings as well as living organisms.
