FASHION DESIGNING & GARMENT TECHNOLOGY
In order to combat the unemployment problem among the girls completed the school; Wayanad Social Service Society started vocational training course in tailoring at its office campus. The course strictly follows the government syllabus and training norms accordingly the trainees on successful completion of the training were entitled for government certificates with validity to get employed as tailoring teachers in schools. The government now has revised the course by upgrading some of the subjects and including new ones in order to cope up with changed demands of employment in the garment sector which is on the path of steady progress. The duration of the certificate course is the same two years whereas the name of the vocational trade stands changed as ‘Fashion Designing & Garment Technology’. This Course was approved by the Kerala State technical Education Department. There is a thorough revision in the subjects also with several new additions like Embroidery, painting, Basic Computer Education, and Spoken English etc. with a vision to enhance the employment potential of young women in the backward district of Wayanad with vocational skills and innovation matching with global standards. The candidates for admission should have completed 10th Standard Examination with a maximum age of 35 years.
